Just about 80 minutes from the parking lot, the autumn adventure is waiting for us underlined by a little romance. We will be alone in the alpine hut, we will stoke and cook on the stove, and the most courageous ones can bathe in the lake directly at the cottage.
During two days and two nights in this location, if the weather soaks, we will experience true sunrise over the lakes covered in autumn haze, enjoy the 360° view of the Alps and perhaps the peaks covered with first snow. We will try time lapse, panoramic photos and long expositions, we will shoot reflections on the surface of the lakes, like on the palm of our hands we will have all Schladminger Tauren and undisturbed Milky Way over the hut after dark.

Number of participants: 6 + lector

Application Deadline: 1.10.2018

Preliminary program of the expedition

Day 1
Expected departure at 9 am from Prague via České Budějovice and Linz to the village of Pichl. From the parking lot here, we will go to the hut Ignaz Mattis Hütte (1986 m, max. 1.5 hours, ↑400 m). We will house in the cottage, make a fire and cook something to eat. According to strengths and weather we will shoot sunset (or even night sky) on lakes near the cottage.
Day 2
In the morning, we’ll get up early to shoot the sunrise at the lakes. When we are lucky, we will experience true autumn haze painted with the first morning rays. During the day, we will go by agreement to one of the nearby observation peaks, for example Lungauer Kalkspitze (2471 m, approx. 1.5 – 2 hours, ↑500 m, ↓500 m). From here we will have an unobstructed 360 ° view. We will try out time lapse videos, panoramic photos and those who are interested will stay in the saddle of Akarscharte (2315 m) from where we will take pictures of the sunset. Then return with the headlamps to the hut, about 30 – 40 min. We will spend the evening in the warmth of the stove, over good food and drink and sharing experiences and advices. Interested parties then can go back to the cold to take pictures of the Milky Way, or try the night time lapse.
Day 3
Early morning shooting of the sunrise from one of the nearby observation peaks, or, depending on the weather and wind conditions, at the lake behind the hut. Then we will head back to the valley to the cars (about 1 hour), and if we still have the strength, the taste and the conditions, we will pass to the Riesachfall waterfall about 45 minutes away. Here we can take beautiful pictures using long expositions and eventually take a ride to the nearby lake Riesachsee (1 h ↑100 m), but we will probably have enough. In the afternoon, we will go back to Prague via Linz and České Budějovice.

Other important information

Although this trip is unpretentious and can be handled by everyone, we must not underestimate the movement in the Alps, especially in the autumn. It is therefore good to arrange extra insurance for stay in the mountains (e.g. Alpenverein). There is a need to have enough cash and do not rely on credit cards. The workshop leader is not a certified mountain guide or international guide, it is not organized mountain tourism but only a photo workshop in alpine environment. We are not travel agency. The program of the workshop can be changed according to the conditions, weather and agreement of all participants.

2x in a mountain hut in the common room (24 EUR/night, for Alpenverein members 12 EUR/night). There is no service in the hut, we will stoke and cook on the stove, drinking water will be available, shower not.
During the stay, we will be able to eat from our own stores, along the way it is possible to buy food at petrol stations and on Friday anywhere on the way.
photo guide and lector, tolls, parking fees and eventual entry to waterfalls

A casual program with the optional addition of more demanding activities, an unpretentious and unexposed terrain, suitable for everyone. No physically demanding stretch.

Caution: difficulty may increase in unfavorable weather!

The time information for each part of the trip is indicative and includes an approximate total walking time with minor breaks, but no breaks for taking pictures or other activities (lunch, snack).
